    10代の頃よりアニメーションによる表現の可能性を探求してきたオオクボリュウは、ドローイング、ペインティング、立体、ゲームなど、様々な手法を駆使し、マルチチャンネルの表現を行うアーティストです。幼少期より親しんできた音楽のフィールドから影響を受けた感性を軸に、常にメタモルフォーゼし続ける表現方法でシーケンシャルアート(連続性のある芸術表現)に向き合って来ました。近年は、これまで自身が多角的に取り組んできたシーケンシャルアートの原点に立ち返り、アニメーションとペインティングの関係を再認識することで実験性の高い表現に取り組んでいます。

    2年ぶりの個展となる本展では、絵画としての抽象性を追求しながらも、連続して鑑賞することにより具体化される実像表現に挑戦しています。アニメーションの動きを構成する点や線などの要素をひとつずつ丁寧に精査し、スタディを重ねながら描かれた、新作を展示致します。

    Ryu Okubo, who has been exploring the possibilities of expression through animation since his teens, is an artist who employs various methods such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and games to create multi-channel expressions. Centering on a sensibility influenced by the field of music with which he has been familiar since childhood, he has always confronted “sequential art” (artistic expression with continuity) with an ever-metamorphosing method of expression. In recent years, he has returned to the origins of the sequential art he has been diversely engaged in and is working on experimental expressions by re-acknowledging the relationship between animation and painting.
    In his first solo exhibition in two years, he is challenging representational expressions that become concrete through continuous viewing while pursuing abstraction in painting. He meticulously examines each element, such as points and lines that compose the movement in animation, and after extensive study, 33 new paintings and animations that have been completed will be exhibited.
